Place of Pilgrimage 2020
Chrastilová, Sabina ; Šagát,, MA Peter Susan (referee) ; Klodová, Lenka (advisor)
Art, health and faith.. These three topics are the main elements of the thesis. I am interested in the point when faith and art meet and offer to a person support certainty or hope. In the thesis I deal with the phenomenon of searching places of pilgrimage, which spiritually fulfilled people and in time those places have become the reflection of culture and mentality of a nation. Exactly in these places happened miraculous recoveries the most often and because of it, the people started believing in strength and magic. The thesis examines if even today we visit cultural and artistic events with the same ambition and energy as the original pilgrims. The basic element of my final part is the video of my personal places of pilgrimage which I visited within the last year. The second part deals with my newly founded online gallery which maps modern forms of pilgrimage. The whole installation is supported by the third part which is my pilgrim coat which I customized during my last travels to suit my needs.
Resistance of Trichomonas vaginalis and other anaerobic pathogens to metronidazole
Havelka, Michal ; Tachezy, Jan (advisor) ; Rada, Petr (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to desbribe mechanisms of resistance to metronidazole in three anaerobic eukaryotic pathogens (T. vaginalis, G. intestinalis, E. histolytica). Diseases caused by these pathogens belong to the list of important but currently neglected diseases. Metronidazole acts only on microbes with an anaerobic metabolism. The drug enters the cell by passive diffusion and needs to be activated by reduction of the nitro group. Mechanisms of activation are different for every pathogen. Enzymes bound with energetic metabolism in hydrogenosomes, cytosolic thioredoxin reductase and nitroreductases play a major role in the activation. The drug damages cells in three ways - DNA damage, formation of covalent bonds with proteins, and covalent bonds with thiols. Pathogens have specific mechanisms to defend themselves against the drug. They can either down-regulate enzymes that activate metronidazole, reduce it to non-reactive aminoimidazole or they can increase the intracellular concentration of oxygen which leads to deactivation of the drug by futile cycling. These mechanisms are bound with physiological changes and subsequently with lowered viability of these pathogens. Furazolidone and benzimidazole derivatives are the best candidates to become an alternative to metronidazole for the...

Rabiňáková, Veronika ; Mottlová, Jana (advisor) ; Mlčková, Marie (referee)
TITLE: The impact of Teen Challenge International on individuals endangered by an addiction or fighting with an addiction, or God as Hope KEY WORDS: Drugs Addiction Prevention Cure Teen Challenge International Belief in God ANNOTATION: In my diploma I observe how cognition of God and belief in Him influences the process of prevention of addiction and the help provided for drug addicts. The theoretical part deals with the issue of drug addiction in the Czech Republic, with strategies fighting this phenomenon, and with various types of help which works, at least to a certain extent, with the spiritual dimension of a man. I focus on the Teen Challenge International Organization (TCI). In the practical part I examine how TCI works with the spiritual dimension of an individual, who TCI works with, what methods TCI uses, and why. The purpose of this examination is to discover how the people in our atheistic country respond to this offered form of help and what they can recieve from being open for God. I use interviews, questionnaires and narrations of those who come to TCI for help and of TCI workers, too. At the end of my work I present new facts that arise from the examination results and I suggest how educationalists, especially those working with children and youngsters with special needs, can use them in...
Study of epoxy resin cered by derivates of hexachloro-cyclo-triphosphazene
Zárybnická, L. ; Večeřa, M. ; Bačovská, R. ; Alberti, M. ; Kincl, Miloslav
The study deals with the curing of epoxy resins by using prepared derivatives of hexachloro-cyclo-triphosphazenes. Several types of derivatives hexachloro-cyclo-triphosphazenes were prepared with the selected amines using by the nucleophilic substitution. Considering the structure of the prepared derivatives, there is a presumption that the cured epoxy resin will show a higher thermal stability and flame retardant.
